Original Music Policy
The Hexagon Space does not participate in the blanket licensing systems of ASCAP, BMI, or SESAC. All material performed at The Hexagon Space must be original, in the public domain, or covered under Fair Use, which means:
- Artists hold the copyright to all of their songs, or
- All of their songs are in the public domain, or
- Artists have been granted permission to perform the material by a licensing scheme that encourages the free sharing of cultural artifacts (i.e. a Creative Commons license), or
- The artist’s work is covered by existing Fair Use laws.
This means no cover songs, no remixes or mashups, and no DJ’ing non-original music. If you feel that your work falls under Fair Use, please contact a member of our Board at (410) 929-5825 or info@hexagonspace.com to discuss our ability to host your performance. When performing, please respect our space and our volunteers who are responsible for enforcing this policy.
